Daimler India Commercial to Open Bus Plant in May 2015

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. is opening a bus plant in May 2015. The company is invest INR 45.5 billion on the facility that covers an area of 113,000 square meters and is situated at Oragadam, near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The plant in located inside Daimler India's existing commercial vehicles facility, and will manufacture Mercedes Benz and Bharatbenz Buses. In the initial stage, 1,500 vehicles will be produced per annum and this can later can be expanded to 4,000 units.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicle Announces Management Changes

Daimler India Commercial Vehicle (DICV) announced some changes at its senior management level. Marc Llistosella will be appointed as the Head of Daimler Trucks Asia (Fuso and BharatBenz) from April 1, 2015. Llistosella was earlier working as the Head of Marketing, Sales and After Sales Truck Asia. Erich Nesselhauf will be assigned the post Managing Director and CEO of Daimler India, and will report to Llistosella. Llistosella, who has been leading the Daimler India from its early days, in his role will report Daimler Board Member Wolfgang Bernhard.
Daimler India Commercial Vehicles to Launch Locally Produced Mercedes-Benz, Bharat Benz Buses by Second Half of 2015

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles plans to launch locally produced buses under the Mercedes-Benz and Bharat Benz brands starting in the second half of 2015. The company's bus plant, in Oragadam, Chennai, is expected to start operations in the second half of 2015. With a total investment of INR 4.24 billion, the plant is expected to produce buses in 9-tonne, 16-tonne and above-16-tonne categories in both front and rear engine configurations. The company plans to ship the India-produced buses to overseas markets as well.
