Vip Mobile Announces Earnings Results for the First Quarter Ended March 31, 2015

Vip Mobile announced earnings results for the first quarter ended March 31, 2015. For the quarter, the company narrowed its negative earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) to EUR 2.6 million ($2.8 million) from EUR 3.1 million a year earlier. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) stood at EUR 10.7 million in the three months through March while revenues fell 7.8% to EUR 45.5 million. The company invested EUR 15.5 million, mostly in the expansion of 4G LTE services and the upgrade of the existing 3G and 2G network.

Vip Mobile Expands LTE Coverage in Belgrade

Vip Mobile has activated the LTE signal on the 100th radio base station in central Belgrade, neat the Church of Saint Sava in Vracar. Most of the territory of Belgrade (New Belgrade, Zemun and city centre) and the whole of Pancevo were covered in only three weeks. The operator is planning to continue expanding the 4G technology in Kopaonik and Zlatibor and then in major cities in Serbia. Vip is planning to invest more than EUR 30 million in the development of 4G network technology and improvement of 2G and 3G networks in Serbia.

Vip Mobile Launches 4G Services in Select Areas

Vip Mobile, a unit of Telekom Austria Group, announced that it has launched 4G services in select areas in Serbia. Vip Mobile's 4G services cover fully the town of Pancevo at the moment while the network blankets most of New Belgrade, also covering some parts of the capital's Stari Grad district. Vip's 4G network will soon cover Kopaonik and Zlatibor, whereas the deployment phases will include the bigger Serbian towns.
