Baron & Budd filed a class-action lawsuit representing plaintiffs from seven states, including: Texas, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania, Illinois, South Carolina and West Virginia. This is the first lawsuit to be filed against Lumber Liquidators in the state of Texas on behalf of homeowners who purchased formaldehyde-tainted flooring. The lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Baron & Budd’s lawsuit alleges that Lumber Liquidators falsely markets its laminate flooring products as safe when in fact many of its China-made products contain unsafe levels of formaldehyde. The homeowners allege that Lumber Liquidators knowingly sells laminate wood products that emit unlawfully high levels of the chemical, far exceeding emissions allowed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB).
