United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey announced that Jim Cawley has been named president and chief executive officer, effective February 9. Cawley joins UWGPSNJ upon ending his term of office as the 32nd Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As president and CEO, Cawley will lead the organization's work to improve Education, Income and Health for the region's most vulnerable populations, while also strengthening the regional safety net.

United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Appoints William Varley to its Local Operating Board in Camden County

United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey appointed William Varley, president of New Jersey American Water, to its Local Operating Board in Camden County. Varley's experience in business, administration and leadership will help promote the advancement of UWGPSNJ's work in Camden County. As a member of UWGPSNJ's Local Operating Board, Varley will play a vital role in United Way's volunteer structure, developing and executing the local impact agenda, organizing and running campaigns, community engagement, and volunteerism efforts for the local communities they serve.

United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey Announces Executive Changes

Anthony J. Conti, retired managing partner of PwC's Philadelphia office, has been named as interim president and CEO of United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey (UWGPSNJ). He will serve on a volunteer basis. According to Greenberg, the board's choice of Conti fulfills two commitments it made when UWGPSNJ President and CEO Jill Michal announced her resignation on May 22. The organization also announced that its search for a permanent successor to Michal is about to begin, although no details have been released and a timetable has not yet been set. Conti retired in 2009 after 36 years with PwC, including four years as managing partner of its regional office in Philadelphia.
