Telecommunications Industry Association Hires April Ward as Director of Communications and Public Affairs

The Telecommunications Industry Association announced it has hired April Ward as Director of Communications and Public Affairs. In this new role, Ward will manage all external communications efforts for TIA. Ward brings 10 years of experience working in communications and public relations. She most recently served as the Deputy Communications Director for the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security, where she was a spokesperson for Chairman Michael McCaul and the committee.

Telecommunications Industry Association announced it has added three new executives to its management team: James Reid as Senior Vice President for Government Affairs, Franklin Flint as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), and Patty Higginbotham as General Counsel and Senior Vice President. Since joining TIA, Belcher’s mission has been to help policymakers, the business community, and customers understand the vital role that network innovators and infrastructure play in delivering on the promise of modern communications networks. James Reid, TIA’s new Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, previously served as the Chief of Staff to Senator John D. Rockefeller and as Deputy Staff Director for the Senate Commerce Committee. CTO Franklin Flint previously spent 30 years working as both an executive and consultant with Dell. And Senior Vice President and General Council Patty Higginbotham has decades of association experience, including in senior roles at the Global Business Travel Association and Airlines for America.

The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) announced that Glenn Laxdal of Ericsson Inc. and Michael Marcellin of Juniper Networks have been added to its Board of Directors. As vice president of technology and advanced solutions for Ericsson's North American region, Glenn Laxdal is responsible for driving the company's technology direction and innovation in emerging technologies. Laxdal has previously held executive roles with RIM, Airvana, and Nortel Networks. Michael Marcellin is senior vice president of strategy and marketing at Juniper Networks and leads business strategy and marketing for Juniper's high-performance routing, switching and security products. Prior to joining Juniper in 2010, Marcellin held executive roles with Verizon and MCI.
