New Jersey City University Announces Appointment of Trustees

New Jersey City University's newly appointed trustees are Edward P. Fowlkes, James A. Jacobson, Joseph F. Scott and Lakeasha Gordon. Ms. Gordon replaces Laquan J. Law of Plainfield, a senior majoring in psychology, as the non-voting student member of the Board. Mr. Law will serve as a voting member of the Board, replacing Alvert Hernandez of Union City, a junior majoring in English. Fowlkes has been a principle partner with Alliance Construction Group, LLC. in Jersey City since 2005. Mr. Fowlkes had served from 2003 to 2007 as a member of Five Bricks Development, LLC. James A. Jacobson Until retiring from the securities business in 2008, Mr. Jacobson was vice chairman and managing director of Spear, Leeds & Kellogg Specialists, LLC. Joseph F. Scott as president and CEO of LibertyHealth/Jersey City Medical Center since January of 2008, Mr. Scott and his leadership team have successfully concentrated their efforts to address patient safety, clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and ensuring the economic health of the system.

New Jersey City University announced that Dr. Daniel J. Julius has been named Senior Vice President and Provost at New Jersey City University, a cabinet position that reports directly to the University president. In addition to serving as NJCU's chief academic officer, Dr. Julius will also serve as a member of the faculty. His tenure will begin early July 2014. Dr. Julius most recently served as Executive Director of The Levin Institute at State University of New York (SUNY).
