maximatecc to Lay Off About 40 Production Employees at its Rohrerstown Road Facility; Announces to Relocate Manufacturing Work to a Facility in Juarez, Mexico
Apr 19 13
maximatecc will lay off about 40 production employees at its Rohrerstown Road facility. The layoffs, representing nearly a third of the workforce at the 130-employee facility, will start in August and run into early 2014. The consolidation will take advantage of cheaper manufacturing costs in Mexico, amid slumping demand for the maximatecc products. There's less demand for the maximatecc products because there's less demand for the off-highway and construction vehicles they go into.
Their manufacturing work will be shifted to a maximatecc facility in Juarez, Mexico. After the relocation, the 1811 Rohrerstown Road facility still will have some manufacturing activities, as well as engineering, testing, management and research and development functions. The relocation will leave the leased facility with some excess space, but 'there are no plans at this point' to move the operation into a smaller building.
