Park View Federal Savings Bank to Lay Off 57 Workers

Park View Federal Savings Bank of Solon will lay off 57 of its 180 employees this fall as it merges with a Pennsylvania bank. Significant layoffs were expected after the deal to sell to FNB Corp. of Hermitage, Pa. for $106.4 million was announced earlier the year 2013. But a specific number wasn’t publicly known until now, as FNB notified the state as required under the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The layoffs will begin October 11 and be finished by mid-December, except for one executive vice president who will be laid off January 13. Employees at Park View’s 16 branches aren’t expected to be affected much by the layoffs; only two tellers are listed among those expected to lose their jobs. The 57 positions primarily include people in accounting, credit, human resources, and lending, marketing and top management.
