La Salle University Appoints Colleen M. Hanycz as President

La Salle University announced the appointment of Colleen M. Hanycz, as its 29th President. Hancyz is currently Principal of Brescia University College in
London, Ontario, Canada. An accomplished attorney and administrative leader as well as a devout Roman Catholic, Hanycz will be the first layperson and first woman to serve as President in a non-interim capacity. Hanycz was selected during a special meeting of the University's Board of Trustees on Feb. 12. Hanycz will formally succeed Brother Michael J. McGinniss, who stepped down at the end of his term on May 31, 2014, after serving 15 years as President. James P. Gallagher, has been serving as Interim President since June 2014 and has been assisting the University in its search for a new president. Hanycz has served as President of Brescia University College in London, Ontario, since July 2008. Hanycz is a past chair of the Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities of Canada and serves as Vice Chair of the board of the London Health Sciences Centre and as a director of St. Joseph's Health Care in London, Ontario. She is also an elected member of the Public Accountants' Council of Ontario, among various other community roles.

La Salle University announced the appointment of James P. Gallagher, Ph.D., as Interim President. Gallagher will succeed Brother Michael J. McGinniss, F.S.C., Ph.D., who, in May 2013, announced his intention to step down at the end of his term on May 31, 2014, after 15 years as President. Among his many notable accomplishments, Gallagher served as President of Philadelphia University for 23 years. During his tenure, he successfully guided the school through a major transformation from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science to Philadelphia University. Gallagher served as Interim President of Arcadia University in 2011.
La Salle to Build $35 Million Business School

La Salle University plans to build a $35 million, 78,000-square-foot, multitiered business school that will be wireless and allow students to interact with executives around the world 24 hours a day. The building is scheduled to open in January 2016.
