Sempra US and Consolidated Edison Development, Inc. to Partner for 75MW Broken Bow II Project

Sempra US Gas & Power, LLC and Consolidated Edison Development, Inc. have announced an agreement to partner on the 75MW Broken Bow II wind project in Custer County, Nebraska, in the US. Jointly owned by Sempra US Gas & Power and Consolidated Edison Development, the 75-MW Broken Bow II wind farm generates enough renewable energy to power about 30,000 Nebraska homes. Construction on the Broken Bow II wind farm began in January 2014. Broken Bow II was placed into commercial operation in October 2014. Under the sales agreement, Sempra US Gas & Power and Consolidated Edison Development holding companies will each own a 50% interest in the wind facility. Sempra US Gas & Power will continue to provide operations and maintenance services for the plant, which generates enough renewable energy to power about 30,000 Nebraska homes.

Sempra U.S. Gas & Power reported earnings results for the third quarter and nine months ended of September 30, 2014. For the third quarter, the company’s earnings were $17 million compared with $37 million in the third quarter 2013, due primarily to $24 million in gains recorded in last year's third quarter associated with the contribution of assets to 50-50 solar joint ventures with consolidated edison development. Revenues were $10 million compared to $25 million a year ago. Income before interest and tax was $3 million compared to $44 million a year ago.
For the nine months, the company’s earnings were $63 million, up from $56 million in the same period last year. Revenues were $25 million compared to $76 million a year ago. Income before interest and tax was $31 million compared to $56 million a year ago.
