For the fiscal year 2016, the company expects to report a further increase in earnings on the back of increased housing activity. Boral USA Reports Earnings Results for the Half Year Ended December 31, 2014; Provides Earnings Guidance for the Fourth Quarter and Fiscal 2015
Feb 11 15
Boral USA reported earnings results for the half year of 2014. For the period, the company delivered a positive AUD 12 million of EBITDA. The EBIT loss of AUD 8 million from the USA was a significant AUD 22 million step change improvement in first-half EBIT. This result not only reflects the ongoing recovery in activity, but also the benefits delivered from business improvement initiatives undertaken late last year. Revenue was AUD 396 million against AUD 335 million a year ago. The business benefited from increased US housing construction activity, albeit at a slower rate than originally anticipated. The improved result in EBIT was underpinned by stronger earnings in all businesses driven by significant volume and solid price gains; improved production volume leverage; and savings of over AUD 6 million as a result of the headcount reduction and consolidation activities undertaken in June 2014.
For fiscal 2015, the company expects to eliminate losses and deliver a broadly break-even result assuming a typically stronger fourth quarter.
