National Gallery Of Art to Appoint Board of Trustees

Businessman-philanthropist David M. Rubenstein will become a trustee of the National Gallery of Art beginning July 1, museum officials announced. At the same time Victoria Sant will become a trustee emerita after 15 years on the board. Rubenstein, co-CEO of The Carlyle Group. He has been appointed to a 10-year term. President of the board at the Kennedy Center, Rubenstein is a regent of the Smithsonian Institution, co-chairman of the Brookings Institution, vice-chairman of the Council on Foreign Relations and chairman of the James Madison Council of the Library of Congress. He also serves as chairman of the board of Duke University, his alma mater, and on the boards of Johns Hopkins University, the University of Chicago and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Sant served as president of the National Gallery's board for 12 years.
