HCGH Announces the Retirement of Vivian Bailey from the Board of Trustees

A member of the HCGH Board of Trustees for more than 23 years, Vivian Bailey – fondly known as Millie to many – recently announced her retirement from the board. A resident of Howard County for more than 40 years, Vivian served on the Maryland Health Resources Planning Commission from 1982 – 1993 and was part of the approval of the first MRIs and first CT Scanners in the state. After she left the commission, she was elected to the HCGH Board of Trustees.

Howard County General Hospital Appoints Elizabeth Edsall Kromm as Senior Director of Population Health and Community Relations

Howard County General Hospital, a Member of Johns Hopkins Medicine (HCGH) announced the appointment of Elizabeth Edsall Kromm, Ph.D., as Senior Director of Population Health and Community Relations, effective Jan. 26, 2015. As such, Edsall Kromm will be responsible for designing and implementing HCGH’s population health management program in collaboration with other community partners and in coordination with the broader Johns Hopkins Medicine strategy. Additionally, she will serve as the primary contact and principal leader in community relations, working toward community health, wellness, disease prevention and overall population health management goals. In addition to her role at HCGH, Edsall Kromm will work with the Population Health Division of Johns Hopkins Medicine, which includes care management, disease management, clinical analytics, predictive modeling, and other capabilities to support the transformations necessary in response to health reform. Edsall Kromm most recently served as Policy Director for the Howard County Government. Prior to that, she was a Senior Officer with The Pew Charitable Trusts, a premier non-profit organization that works on a wide range of issues, including protecting public health and the environment. She also served as an advisor to former Howard County Health Officer Dr. Peter Beilenson and was a co-architect of the Healthy Howard Initiative and Healthy Howard Health Plan.

Howard County General Hospital announced the appointment of Karen K. Davis as Vice President of Nursing/Chief Nursing Officer, effective December 8, 2014. As such, Dr. Davis will be responsible for inpatient nursing units as well as Emergency Services, Women’s and Children’s Services, Perioperative Services, Clinical Education, and patient care staffing and operations. Dr. Davis has been employed at The Johns Hopkins Hospital for 25 years in a variety of roles, including clinical care nurse, nurse manager and, for the past seven years, as director of Medical and Radiology Nursing.
