Oxford University Press Launches New Oxford Arabic Dictionary

Oxford University Press announced that it has launched the new Oxford Arabic Dictionary, based throughout on evidence of both English and Arabic usage. A key strength of the dictionary is the 70,000 real example phrases that illustrate the dictionary entries. These examples help the user interpret everyday modern meaning and usage accurately, and cement the Oxford Arabic Dictionary as the most pragmatic work of its kind. The dictionary is available in print and is also accessible online. The online edition is fully accessible on mobile and tablet, and, through specially developed search software, enables learners and users of Arabic and English to search more than 330,000 words, phrases, and translations. Regular word and content updates will ensure that the online dictionary continues to reflect the latest vocabulary and trends in language usage.

Oxford University Press Announces Launch of New iBooks Textbooks for English Language Learning and International Baccalaureate

Oxford University Press announced the launch of 13 new iBooks Textbooks. Headway, Oxford's general English course for teenagers and adults that teachers trust, leads an impressive list of new iBooks Textbooks for students learning English as a foreign language or studying for the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum. Created using iBooks Author, Oxford's new iBooks Textbooks take advantage of the unique interactive capabilities of iPad and Mac to enrich the learning experience for students. Oxford's 13 new iBooks Textbooks, which will launch at The Bett Show, London (22-25 January) include: Headway: the Headway iBooks Textbooks offer features that are great for in-class and home study with readily-accessible audio, interactive exercises, and easy access to the Headway iTutor; English for Football, a short, intensive course for students who want to communicate better in English in the world of football with a Foreword by Sir Alex Ferguson. The course covers important skills and terms that are used in football and includes profiles of international football players learning English; Eight new titles from the popular Oxford Read and Discover series which make learning English through other subjects exciting. Stunning photos, informative videos, audio, and interactive exercises make it fun to learn about topics such as Incredible Earth, Animals in the Air, and Life in Rainforests; IB Theory and Knowledge and IB Economics, two Course Books for the IB add handy revision checklists, callouts, and enlargeable swipe-friendly photos and diagrams to the iBooks Textbooks versions. With content that has been created hand-in-hand with the IB to ensure the closest match to the IB syllabuses and philosophy, these are resources that truly capture the IB spirit while optimising technology.
