Federal Trade Commission Approves Final Orders Settling Charges of U.S.-EU Safe Harbor Violations against 14 Companies

After a public comment period, the Federal Trade Commission has approved final orders that settle charges against 14 companies for falsely claiming to participate in the international privacy framework known as the U.S.-EU Safe Harbor. Three of the companies were also charged with similar violations related to the U.S.-Swiss Safe Harbor. The FTC previously announced the settlements in January, February and May of 2014 with the following companies: American Apparel, Apperian, Inc., Atlanta Falcons Football Club, LLC, Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP, BitTorrent, Inc., Charles River Laboratories International, Inc., DataMotion, Inc., DDC Laboratories, Inc., Fantage, Inc., Level 3 Communications, LLC, PDB Sports, Ltd., d/b/a Denver Broncos Football Club, Reynolds Consumer Products Inc., Receivable Management Services Corporation and Tennessee Football, Inc. Under the settlements, the companies are prohibited from misrepresenting the extent to which they participate in any privacy or data security program sponsored by the government or any other self-regulatory or standard-setting organization. The commission vote approving the final orders was 4-0, with Commissioner McSweeny not participating.
Atlanta Falcons Football Club, LLC Hires Jared Miller as Chief Technology Officer for AMB Sports & Entertainment Group

The Atlanta Falcons announced the appointment of Jared Miller to the newly-created position of Chief Technology Officer for AMB Sports & Entertainment Group, which includes a division that will operate the new Atlanta stadium currently in development. Miller will join the group on March 3 and will be responsible for sourcing and integrating innovative, technology solutions to ensure the development of a world-class stadium facility. He also will lead the deployment of technology solutions designed to meet the changing needs of Falcons fans and guests of the many other events that will be hosted at the new stadium. Miller comes to the Falcons from NCR Corporation, where he was vice president and general manager for travel & gaming solution management.
