Uline Inc. to Build Two-Story Conference Center Near Headquarters West of Interstate 94
Jun 9 15
Uline Inc. has received tentative approval to alter the floodplain on its campus in Pleasant Prairie and build a two-story conference center near its headquarters west of Interstate 94. The Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission recommended approval of the plan to place fill on the northwest corner of a retention pond on its property and create additional flood storage on the southern portion of its campus. The alteration to the floodplain boundary will require approval from the Village Board, the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources before the work can begin. The floodplain includes a small tributary flowing into the Des Plaines River. The company plans to build a conference center with 22,500 square feet for private corporate meetings, conferences and events with about 200 to 300 attendees. The building will have a large gathering area on the main level and an outdoor deck overlooking the pond. The company is also building a second, 1.1-million-square-foot warehouse and distribution center in the village. Roughly 1,100 people are working in the company's current complex of warehouses, offices and distribution centers, and the company is expected to add 380 new jobs when it opens two warehouses now under construction.
Uline Inc. Wins Preliminary Approval to Develop for 298,000-Square-Foot Headquarters
Mar 10 15
Uline Inc. has won preliminary approval to develop 37.7 acres along Interstate 94 for a 298,000-square-foot headquarters, adjacent to its current office and warehouses in Pleasant Prairie. Plans shared with the village Plan Commission set the start of grading on the property in June, with a tentative completion in early 2017. Further approvals from the village, and the start of construction, will be on hold, pending approvals for wetland mitigation and floodplain boundary adjustments from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Uline plans to purchase the 37.3 acres for the office building from the Pleasant Prairie Community Development Authority. The building would house 500 workers initially, with a capacity to accommodate 800. It will be located southeast of the current Uline headquarters and a 1-million-square-foot warehouse along Interstate 94 and south of Highway Q. Uline is also building a second 1.1-million-square foot warehouse and distribution center.
