Uline, Inc. Key Developments
Uline Inc. Wins Preliminary Approval to Develop for 298,000-Square-Foot Headquarters
Mar 10 15
Uline Inc. has won preliminary approval to develop 37.7 acres along Interstate 94 for a 298,000-square-foot headquarters, adjacent to its current office and warehouses in Pleasant Prairie. Plans shared with the village Plan Commission set the start of grading on the property in June, with a tentative completion in early 2017. Further approvals from the village, and the start of construction, will be on hold, pending approvals for wetland mitigation and floodplain boundary adjustments from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Uline plans to purchase the 37.3 acres for the office building from the Pleasant Prairie Community Development Authority. The building would house 500 workers initially, with a capacity to accommodate 800. It will be located southeast of the current Uline headquarters and a 1-million-square-foot warehouse along Interstate 94 and south of Highway Q. Uline is also building a second 1.1-million-square foot warehouse and distribution center.
Uline Inc. Proposes Another Expansion of its Pleasant Prairie Operations
Sep 7 14
Uline Inc. proposed another expansion of its Pleasant Prairie operations. The company is proposing to lease a 521, 052-square-foot building that's under construction at 8495 116th St., in LakeView Corporate Park. The building is owned by Center-Point Wispark Land Co. II LLC, a partnership of CenterPoint Properties Corp. and Wispark LLC, the development arm of Wisconsin Energy Corp. Uline would use the building as a distribution center, with about 30 employees. The building is to be completed by June. The company in June announced it was doubling its Pleasant Prairie corporate campus, adding 500 jobs. That expansion will add a second 1,000,000-square-foot distribution center and a second corporate office building of 200,000 square feet. That project, which started this summer, is expected to be done by the fall of 2015. Uline is spending about $100 million on that expansion, which will receive no public funding.
Uline Announces Expansion of Warehouse and Office Building
Jul 13 14
Uline announced its second expansion in Kenosha County in less than two months - a move that will take the company out of Illinois entirely and add 475 jobs in Wisconsin. The company said it will relocate its Midwest distribution business from Waukegan, Ill., to a 60,000-square-foot office building and a distribution center of 1 million square feet on 200 acres at the corner of Highway 142 and I-94, across the freeway from where Amazon.com is building a large distribution center. The office building will house the company's call center and its Midwest sales force. The new distribution center will ship products to customers in the Midwest. The site, which initially will have 200 office jobs and 275 warehouse positions, allows for doubling the size of facilities in the future. Construction is expected to begin next spring. The expansion includes a second 1-million-square-foot warehouse and a second corporate office building of 200, 000 square feet. Uline is spending about $100 million on that part of its expansion, which the company said also will receive no public funding. However, the company is receiving up to $18.6 million in state aid for the earlier move of its headquarters to Wisconsin from Illinois. The Uline campus is located just west of I-94 and south of Highway 165. Construction is to begin this summer on the new Pleasant Prairie distribution center, with work on the new office building to begin this fall. The project is expected to be done by the fall of 2015.
