Voya Investment Management Appoints Michael A. Bell as Chief Financial Officer

Voya Investment Management announced that Michael A. Bell has joined the firm as chief financial officer. In this role, he will lead the finance team, including financial reporting, planning and analysis, for Voya IM, which has more than $200 billion in assets under management. Bell will be a part of Voya Financial's senior finance leadership team and report to Ewout L. Steenbergen, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Voya Financial. Bell also will work closely with Jeffrey T. Becker, chief executive officer of Voya Investment Management and become a member of Becker's management committee. Bell succeeds Daniel Wilcox, who will be retiring at the end of 2014. Bell has more than 20 years of experience across public accounting and financial services. He most recently served, since 2012, as chief financial officer for Hartford Investment Management Company (HIMCO). In this role, Bell led the financial organization that supports The Hartford's general account and institutional client investments. Previously, Bell served as CFO for The Hartford's Institutional Solutions Group. He also was HIMCO's chief accounting officer from 2005 to 2008 and director of investment accounting policy, reporting and taxation from 2003 to 2005. Prior to joining The Hartford in 2002, Bell spent 10 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP and previously was at Arthur Andersen & Co.

Voya Investment Management, the asset management business of Voya Financial Inc. announced that it is expanding its efforts and investment offerings to meet the long-term investment needs of insurance companies. As part of the firm's expansion efforts, Voya IM announced that John D. Simone, CFA, has joined the firm in the newly created role of head of insurance investment management sales and solutions. Simone joins Voya IM from J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he most recently served as executive director, global insurance solutions, since January 2008. He will report to Bas NieuweWeme, head of institutional distribution for Voya IM.
Solar Senior Capital Ltd. Announces Formation of a First Lien Loan Program in Strategic Partnership with Voya Investment Management Co. LLC

Solar Senior Capital Ltd. announced that it has entered into a joint venture agreement to create a First Lien Loan Program (FLLP) with Voya Investment Management Co. LLC. Voya acts as the investment advisor for several wholly owned insurance subsidiaries of Voya Financial Inc. The joint venture is expected to invest primarily in senior secured term loans to middle market companies predominantly owned by private equity sponsors or entrepreneurs, consistent with Solar Senior's core origination and underwriting mandate. Solar Senior and Voya have committed to provide $50 million and $7.25 million, respectively, of capital to the joint venture. In addition, FLLP intends to seek third party financing that is expected to allow the joint venture to utilize leverage up to a ratio of approximately 2.0x debt-to-equity once the portfolio is sufficiently ramped. Solar Senior and Voya expect to begin funding the portfolio with new investments prior to the end of 2014.
