The CMU Faculty Association has ratified a new five-year collective bargaining agreement with Central Michigan University following member voting. The agreement with the association, which represents about 700 faculty members, is effective July 25, 2014, through June 30, 2019. It provides: Annual wage increases ranging from 2% to 2.95; continued insurance contributions, with increased flexibility in the FA's selection of health insurance plans; and a five-year lifespan - the first contract of this duration between the parties.
Central Michigan University and UAW Local 6888 Ratify Three-Year Bargaining Agreement

UAW Local 6888, which represents Central Michigan University's 324 office professionals, has ratified a new three-year collective bargaining agreement. The new contract's effective date is July 1, with an expiration date of June 30, 2016. Basic terms of the agreement include: Year one (2013-14): 2.5% base wage increase with OPs contributing 10% to their health care premiums. Year two (2014-15): 0.5% base wage increase plus the difference between 0.5% and any increase the professional and administrative employees may receive. OP employee health care contributions will match any changes in the P&A contribution. Year three (2015-16): 0.5% base wage increase plus the difference between 0.5% and any increase the professional and administrative employees may receive. OP employee health care contributions will match any changes in the P&A contribution. Retirement contributions will improve to 8.5%, 9.5% and 10% during the life of the three-year agreement.
Central Michigan University Appoints Michael A. Gealt as the University's Next Executive Vice President/Provost

Central Michigan University announces the appointment of Michael A. Gealt as the university's next executive vice president/provost. Gealt, dean of the College of Science and professor of biology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, will assume the responsibilities of provost August 1, 2013. He will oversee CMU's academic division and serve as the second highest-ranking administrator.
