Dime Community Bancshares Inc. and The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh (bank) announced that its long-tenured Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Vincent F. Palagiano, has decided to retire as an officer effective December 31, 2016. Mr. Palagiano will remain as Chairman of the boards of both the company and bank. Kenneth J. Mahon, currently President and Chief Operating Officer of both the company and bank, will assume the roles of Chief Executive Officer and President of both entities as of January 1, 2017. Mr. Palagiano has served as Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of the bank since 1989 and of the company since its formation in 1995, President of the bank from 1986 to 1997, and of the Company from 1995 to 1997, a director of the Company since its inception in 1995, and a director of the bank since 1978.

The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh to Open New Full-Service Branch on Kent Avenue in Brooklyn

The Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh announced that it has received approval from the New York State Department of Financial Services to open a new branch in its hometown of Williamsburg at 149 Kent Avenue. The branch will offer local residents and business owners a broad range of financial services and personal account features. Dime's new branch, anticipated to open by first quarter 2017, is a 2,732-square foot banking center, located in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It will be a full-service branch, with an open layout that will enhance the service experience for retail customers. In addition, the branch is also designed for small business customers, with conference and meeting space that can be used for these customers if and when needed.

Terence J. Mitchell to Retire as Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer of the Dime Savings Bank of Williamsburgh, Effective June 30, 2016

The Dime Savings Banks of Williamsburgh announced that the bank's Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer, Terence J. Mitchell, has decided to retire effective June 30, 2016. His replacement has not yet been determined. Mr. Mitchell has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Retail Officer since joining the bank in 2010. Prior to joining the bank, he served as EVP and Senior Market Leader for Sovereign Bank's New York and New Jersey metropolitan division; and, prior to his tenure at Sovereign Bank, he served at Independence Community Bank for 33 years, rising to the position of EVP and President of Consumer Banking.
