Boise State University Appoints Curt Apsey as Athletic Director

The Idaho Statesman has confirmed that Carroll College Athletic Director Curt Apsey will be hired as Boise State University s new athletic director. He’ll replace Mark Coyle, who is leaving Boise State to lead the athletic department at Syracuse. Apsey, 53, served in the Boise State athletic department from 1998 to 2014, including as interim athletic director for four months before Coyle officially began work in January of 2012. Apsey will be the fifth athletic director in Boise State history, joining Lyle Smith (1968-81), Mike Mullally (1981-82), Gene Bleymaier (1982-2011) and Coyle (2011-15). All but Coyle had previous positions in the Broncos’ athletic department.
Boise State University's Human Resource Services Announces New Staff

Boise State University announced that as the university continues to implement service improvements and work to better coordinate information and tasks both within the HR department and with other campus departments, it has announced the following staff changes: Harold Blackman joins the HR department as interim associate vice president for Human Resources effective Feb. 23. Over the next six months, Harold will meet with HR staff and campus leaders, faculty and staff to delve into what is needed to guide HR in a more effective and strategic direction. Sarah Jones - Director, Human Resources Operations: Jones has served as the director of compensation and benefits at the university since 2010. In 2014, she assumed the role of interim AVP for Human Resources while a national search was conducted for a new AVP. In her new role as director of HR operations, she will report to Blackman and most of the functional areas will continue to report to her as she makes progress on current initiatives. Jay Stephens, MPA - Senior Director, Human Resources: Jay Stephens is new to Boise State University and starts his employment on March 30. He is a seasoned leader of human resources. Since 2011, he has served as the director of human resources, affirmative action officer and Title IX coordinator at Southern Oregon University. Prior to Southern Oregon University he spent five years in Utah as the director of human resources for Utah State University-Eastern. Stephens will work with Blackman to get to know the campus, the issues and needs and to operationalize programs that are ready to move forward. He also will oversee some of the functional areas and those will be determined in the first few months of his arrival.
