The University of Texas at Arlington announced the appointment of Dr. Paul Wong, dean of the College of Arts and Letters at San Diego State University, as the incoming Dean of the UT Arlington College of Liberal Arts effective July 1, 2015. Dr. Wong brings to UT Arlington a distinguished record of academic accomplishment at SDSU's larger single college that includes 18 academic departments, 15 centers and institutes, a number of research journals and the SDSU Press. Dr. Wong also is also director of International Partnerships at SDSU, a professor of sociology and oversees the Social Science Research Laboratory and the Charles Hostler Institute for World Affairs.

The University of Texas at Arlington has appointed Lynne T. Waters, associate vice president for external affairs and university relations for the University of Hawai'i System, as vice president for University Communications. Waters, is a former television news anchor and reporter who later owned a comprehensive communications consulting firm before joining the University of Hawai'i System in 2011. During her tenure in higher education, Waters has directed strategic communications planning, community relations, creative services and marketing and brand management for the UH System, including its 10 campuses and some 59,000 students. At UT Arlington, Waters will work closely with President Vistasp M. Karbhari and the senior leadership team to direct the University's global marketing and communications efforts, institutional marketing and brand positioning, internal communications, media relations and community relations initiatives.
