University of Texas At Arlington Appoints Lynne T. Waters as Vice President for University Communications

The University of Texas at Arlington has appointed Lynne T. Waters, associate vice president for external affairs and university relations for the University of Hawai'i System, as vice president for University Communications. Waters, is a former television news anchor and reporter who later owned a comprehensive communications consulting firm before joining the University of Hawai'i System in 2011. During her tenure in higher education, Waters has directed strategic communications planning, community relations, creative services and marketing and brand management for the UH System, including its 10 campuses and some 59,000 students. At UT Arlington, Waters will work closely with President Vistasp M. Karbhari and the senior leadership team to direct the University's global marketing and communications efforts, institutional marketing and brand positioning, internal communications, media relations and community relations initiatives.

UT Arlington Appoints Kenneth Reifsnider to lead a new Institute for Predictive Performance of Advanced Materials and Structures, Effective June 2015

Dr. Kenneth Reifsnider, will join UT Arlington in June to lead a new Institute for Predictive Performance of Advanced Materials and Structures. Dr. Reifsnider currently serves as director of the Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Center of Excellence at the University of South Carolina.

University Of Texas at Arlington Appoints Duane B. Dimos as Vice President for Research, Effective April 1, 2015

The University of Texas at Arlington announced the appointment of Duane B. Dimos of Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque, N.M., as vice president for research. During his 25 years at Sandia, Dr. Dimos has served in a wide variety of leadership and management positions, including as acting vice president of the Science and Technology Division. At UT Arlington, Dr. Dimos will work closely with President Vistasp M. Karbhari, faculty, staff and students to expand the University's research and entrepreneurial enterprise, to foster commercialization of University intellectual property, and to ensure the scientific integrity and the responsible conduct of research. Dimos officially joins UT Arlington on April 1. He succeeds Dr. Carolyn Cason, a professor and former associate dean of nursing, who has served as vice president for research since fall 2012.
