Truman Medical Centers Announces Executive Appointments

Truman Medical Centers announced that it has appointed Amy Peters as chief nursing officer and Lynette Wheeler as the company Lakewood's new chief operating officer. Peters previously was serving as interim COO and associate chief nursing officer at TMC Lakewood. She has worked at Truman since 1994 and will take over as chief nursing officer February 2, 2015. Lynette Wheeler, who has served as chief nursing officer since 2011, will take over as COO at TMC Lakewood that same day. Wheeler became chief nursing officer at Truman in 2011 after serving as vice president of cardiopulmonary vascular services at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph.

Truman Medical Centers Announces Management Changes

Truman Medical Centers announced that Charlie Shields will succeed the retiring John Bluford as CEO. Shields currently is COO at TMC Lakewood. While at TMC Lakewood, Shields oversaw the addition of a new birthing center, dental coach and other new service lines.

Truman Medical Centers Announces Retirement of John Bluford III as President and CEO, Effective from July 18, 2014

John Bluford III, president and CEO of Truman Medical Centers, announced his retirement on February 21, 2014. After serving in that role for 15 years, Bluford's retirement will become effective July 18. Bluford said he plans to remain in the Kansas City area and will continue participate on various boards as well as mentor future health care leaders through the Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute, which he created in 2013.
