Ciris Energy, Inc. Receives Second Underground Injection and Microbial Conversion Permits in Wyoming
Jul 10 14
Ciris Energy, Inc. announced that the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality issued Underground Injection Control Permit #13-018 to Ciris. The 10 year permit allows for injections into an underground coal seam to enhance and restore naturally occurring methane generation. The permit for this project located in Campbell County, Wyoming, requires extensive monitoring both during and after injection operations. The permit also requires Ciris to maintain the water quality within the coal seam at existing quality levels. Further, on May 13, 2014, the Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission approved docket #500-2014, granting Ciris final approval for this microbial conversion project. Ciris Energy is the only company in the world fully permitted for continuous injection and circulation to restore microbial conversion of coal and produce clean burning natural gas. This permit allows for Ciris Energy's second microbial conversion project in Wyoming. Findings from these projects, combined with the latest research from their lab will further develop the in situ bioconversion process of coal.
