Sunbeam Products, Inc. Recalls Oil-Filled Heaters

Sunbeam Products, Inc. recalls oil-filled heaters about 34,000 units in United States due to scald hazard. The oil-filled heaters can spray heated oil, posing a scald hazard. This recall involves Holmes brand oil-filled heaters that are black or white in color. The heaters included in the recall are about 23 inches tall, 6 inches deep and 12 inches wide and have model number HOH3000 or HOH3000B printed on a label on the bottom of the product. The ‘Holmes’ logo is near the power switch and temperature control. Products affected have a code on the heater plug blade within the following range: G192 through G298. No other codes are affected. Incidents/Injuries: the firm has received approximately 40 reports of units that unexpectedly sprayed heated oil, resulting in reports of property damage involving damaged carpet and fabrics. No injuries reported. Remedy: a consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heater, unplug it and contact Sunbeam for instructions on how to obtain a full refund. Sold at: target and small department stores nationwide from August 2014 through November 2014 for about $50.

Holmes(R) Smart Humidifier Enabled with WeMo(R) Now Available

WeMo(R) a home automation ecosystem by Belkin International, and Holmes(R) announced availability of the new Holmes(R) Smart Humidifier enabled with WeMo. The second product stemming from collaboration between Belkin International and Jarden Consumer Solutions, the smart humidifier features WeMo technology built-in and allows consumers to adjust, manage and maintain their home environment from anywhere using a smartphone or tablet. The WeMo-enabled humidifier allows users to easily check and maintain optimum humidity levels, set schedules, and receive alerts and reminders through the WeMo app. The WeMo app also sends low water and filter replacement notifications and even allows users to purchase new filters through an in-app purchase for care-free maintenance. The humidifier works with the entire WeMo product ecosystem, which allows users to program custom settings and actions through the same app as their other WeMo devices and lighting solutions. For example, set the bedroom lights to turn off and the humidifier to turn on at the same time every evening to simplify nighttime routines. With 60 hours of runtime and a four-gallon capacity, the Holmes(R) Smart Humidifier enabled by WeMo easily provides humidity for an entire home up to 2,500 square feet and keeps the whole family comfortable for longer without refilling the water tank. The humidifier also features five different settings for customized comfort, an automatic shut-off, dry-out mode, plus water refill and check filter indicators for easy maintenance and usage. Holmes(R) Smart Humidifier enabled with WeMo (F7C046), monitor and manage humidity settings from anywhere, comfortably provides humidity for a 2,500 square foot home, program schedules and timers; receive alerts and reminders via the WeMo App; works with an existing Wi-Fi(R) router and the free WeMo app for iOS 7 or Android 4.0 or higher; two easy-fill tanks for a four-gallon total capacity; Pure Evaporative Cool Mist Technology; five speed setting for optimal home environment; and Manual control option1-year limited warranty. Sunbeam Products Recalls Holmes Ceramic Heaters Due to Fire Hazard

Sunbeam Products, Inc. announced that consumers should stop using this product unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product. Recall Summary: Name of Product: Holmes Ceramic Heaters; Hazard: The ceramic heaters can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers. Remedy: Refund. Recall Details: Units: About 151,600. Description: This recall involves Holmes oscillating ceramic heaters sold in black, purple, red, blue and white. The rectangular heaters included in the recall are about 12 inches tall, 8 1/2 inches wide and 5 1/2 inches deep and have model number HCH1823M printed on a label on the bottom of the product. The ‘Holmes’ logo is on the bottom front of the unit and two knobs controlling the fan and the thermostat are on the top. The heater adjusts between a high and low heat setting and a fan only setting. Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received 132 reports of units that unexpectedly stopped working and/or overheating, resulting in one report of smoke inhalation and ten reports of property damage involving burned flooring. Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled heater, unplug it and contact Sunbeam Products, Inc. for instructions on how to obtain a full refund.
