Nortek Security & Control Adds Z-Wave 500 Series Lighting Devices to Smart Home Portfolio
Jan 4 17
Nortek Security & Control LLC announced the introduction of six new Z-Wave 500 series lighting devices to the expanding portfolio of GoControl® smart home control devices. Dealers and do-it-yourself consumers installing the new lighting and electrical devices will have access to new features including energy monitoring, extended range, and standardized over-the-air upgradability. The next generation of lighting devices make home lighting automation simpler with central scene command class, more reliable with extended range and easy-to-configure with local associations. The product line includes: GoControl 500 Series Wall Switch (WS15Z5-1) MSRP: $59.95; GoControl 500 Series Wall Dimmer (WD500Z5-1) MSRP: $59.95; GoControl 500 Series 3-Way Switch/Dimmer (WT00Z5-1) MSRP: $59.95; GoControl 500 Series EM Lamp Module (PD300EMZ5-1) MSRP: $59.95; GoControl 500 Series EM Appliance Module (PS15EMZ5-1) MSRP: $59.95; and GoControl 500 Series EM Wall Outlet (WO15EMZ5-1) MSRP: $59.95. With the energy monitoring command class integrated at the device level, end-users with compatible Z-Wave hubs can access valuable insight into how much energy each of the devices connected to the GoControl plug-in modules or GoControl wall outlets are using. With this information, users can make informed decisions and adjust lighting scenes and schedules to reduce energy use and cost. Integrated LEDs provide a visual representation of how much energy is being used, enabling users to make real-time adjustments. Simply look for the letters “EM” in the part number or description fields to identify products with this feature set. Using the central scene command class, the new GoControl 500 Series light switches and dimmers now have multi-tap implementation to allow users to easily trigger up to eight lighting scenes directly from the light switch. End-users looking to quickly access a stored scene can do so without having to activate the scene from their smartphone or wait for the scheduled scene to occur. By double tapping, triple tapping, press and holding, or press, holding and releasing the top or bottom of the 500 series switch, users can trigger any of their created scenes directly from any compatible switch immediately. Direct device-to-device association capabilities are now available in every GoControl 500 Series in-wall switch. Directly associating two or more Z-Wave devices results in enhanced performance consistency and can be triggered by a single tap of the in-wall switch. Device-to-device association can be used to allow a single GoControl in-wall switch to directly control up to five dimmers and/or five switches, and creates a reliable connection outside of the central hub for easy-to-configure lighting automation and commands that do not require a created scene. Increased wireless transmission range means fewer devices are required to create and maintain a strong and reliable Z-Wave mesh network. All of the new GoControl 500 Series lighting devices feature 30% further wireless range and act as repeaters to ensure commands meant for devices located far away from the central hub are received and executed. The GoControl 500 Series lighting devices feature backwards compatibility with older generation Z-Wave product and support over-the-air (OTA) updates. As new features become available, the 500 Series lighting devices can be updated accordingly and will continue to work harmoniously with existing Z-Wave devices on the network. The new GoControl 500 Series lighting devices will be on display at CES 2017 in the Nortek Security & Control smart home booth in the Sands (booth #41317) and widely available by February 2017.

Nortek Security & Control Launches Weather-Tight, Hardwired Doorbell Camera for the Security and Custom Dealer
Sep 15 16
Nortek Security & Control LLC announced the new GoControl® Smart Doorbell Camera available exclusively to professional security dealers and smart-home installers looking to provide their customers with the ability to see and talk to anyone at their door from anywhere via their smartphone. Designed as a complete solution, the GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera is a great addition to any existing home security system or start of one. The new GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera is a Wi-Fi enabled video doorbell with two-way audio to allow homeowners to see who is at the door, and converse with the caller as well. Equipped with a 720p HD camera and a 180-degree wide-angle lens, the GoControl Doorbell Camera easily captures video even when mounted off to the side of the door. To provide homeowners with a superior audio experience, this connected video doorbell decouples audio /video information and uses low latency SIP technology for near real-time two-way audio performance. To provide superior protection from the elements, the GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera is IP65 weather rated with hermetically-sealed wire connections to eliminate service calls due to dust, rain, sleet, and snow. The hard-wired installation coupled with the hermetically-sealed IP65 rating offers superior performance over other battery-powered units resulting in longer Wi-Fi range and advanced night-time illumination while the sealed design protects the sensitive internal electronics and safeguards the unit to deliver a durable and long-lasting connected doorbell solution. As a retrofit solution designed to replace existing or outdated doorbell systems, the GoControl Smart Doorbell Camera is a simple, two-wire installation for dealers and integrators that draws power from same transformer as the previous doorbell, and fits cleanly over an old doorbell to cover pre-existing holes or discoloration footprints. Designed to match existing décor and hardware, the unit's faceplate can be easily swapped out by the installer and comes in a variety of color finishes including Satin Nickel, Bronze, Brass, Charcoal or White. For dealers looking to add a personal touch to their installation, they have the option of swapping out the GoControl logo for their own when ordering replaceable faceplates. The connected doorbell camera can in most cases be directly integrated with the existing door chime. For installations that may require a new door chime, hardwired chime or Wi-Fi powered outlet chime replacements are available to installers. Once installed, homeowners can receive notifications from the device on their iOS or Android smartphone or tablet when someone rings the bell, with the added benefit of communicating with them via clear, two-way audio. Homeowners can also access their doorbell camera video feed on demand from their app and in doing so, record video directly to their phone or take a snapshot. Four powerful IR LEDS provide superior night vision for high-quality video up to 15 feet away even in low-light applications. The companion "MyDoorbell" app can support up to two doorbells and up to four user accounts so the whole family can monitor who is at the front or back door at any time.
