John Dunn Retires as President of Western Michigan University

After leading Western Michigan University for 10 years, President John Dunn will retire in June. Dunn's contract runs through June 30, and he has agreed with the university's Board of Trustees to serve as president emeritus in 2017-18. Dunn became president in 2007. He previously served as provost, vice chancellor and interim chancellor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. From 1995 to 2002, he was the dean of the University of Utah's College of Health and earlier worked at Oregon State University for two decades. Besides leading WMU, Dunn is on the boards of First National Bank, Southwest Michigan First, WMU Foundation and the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research. He is chairman of the Mid-American Conference Council of Presidents and is a board member of the American Council on Education.
