ChroMedX Corp. Reaches an Agreement with McMaster University on Collaborative Project

ChroMedX Corp. announced that it has reached an agreement with McMaster University on a collaborative project. The collaborative project led by ChroMedX Technical Advisory Board member Dr. Cynthia Balion will provide the necessary laboratory space for ChroMedX to handle and treat blood samples in the development of key algorithms for the HemoPalm spectroscopic analyser. In addition ChroMedX will be developing a device capable of measuring common preanalytical interferences in blood samples which will be of great value to the Canadian Institutes of Health Research's Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging (CLSA).
Mcmaster University Names Glen Grunwald as Director of Athletics and Recreation

Former Toronto Raptor and New York Knicks General Manager Glen Grunwald has been named the Director of Athletics and Recreation at McMaster University. In addition to working as an executive in the National Basketballl Association, Grunwald was also president of the Toronto Board of Trade. He replaces Jeff Giles, a former president of the Canadian Football League. Giles left the university in April.
Mcmaster University and Cisco Collaborate to Further Bioinformatics Research and Build Institutional Research Cloud

McMaster University and Cisco Systems Canada Co. announced they have established a long-term relationship which will see the university increase research activities in Integrated Health Biosystems and Bioinformatics. McMaster and Cisco will also establish a university-wide research cloud computing environment and infrastructure. This partnership will see McMaster build on its renowned research successes and strengthen its links with national and international partners from academia, government and industry. As part of the agreement, Cisco is providing a $2.1 million contribution to McMaster. The contribution includes $1.6 million over eight years to establish a Professorship in Integrated Health Biosystems, as well as $500,000 over five years to establish a Research Chair in Bioinformatics. The Research Chair in Bioinformatics will collaborate on a program in Integrated Health Biosystems, the aim of which will be to bridge the existing gulf between data-intensive areas of biomedical research and healthcare by integrating diverse biological datasets with clinical and environmental data.
