Old Navy Opens New Store at Bayshore Town Center

Old Navy is opening a store at Glendale's Bayshore Town Center, part of an ongoing repositioning of that clothing store chain in the Milwaukee area. The company will occupy a 17,025-square-foot space that includes the former Applebee's restaurant, which recently moved to a new stand-alone building at Bayshore. The new store also will use space now leased to Village Shoppe, which is moving to another nearby location within the mall. The company's new store will anchor the west entrance opposite the food court on Bayshore's north end. Renovation of the space is underway, and the store is expected to open in late summer. It will have around 80 employees. The Bayshore store is apparently replacing an Old Navy store at Marketplace of Brown Deer, 9094 N. Green Bay Road. That 20,000-square-foot store closed at the end of February 2015.

Gottex Brands to Open Old Navy Stores in Israel

Gottex Brands, headed by Joey Shoval and Hanan Elitov, is in advanced talks to open Old Navy stores in Israel. Sources also said that representatives from Old Navy visited Israel a month ago to this end, and that Gottex has even reserved a spot for the store in the Ikea North center. Currently, the primary bone of contention between the parties has to do with pricing the brand. Gottex Group would like the price difference between Israel and the US to be between 10% and 12%, at most, excluding VAT. The group believes that Old Navy would have great success in Israel, as such a price difference would present attractive prices, in light of the broad product offering and low prices that typify the brand. Should an agreement be reached, Gottex Brand s intends to open 5-7 branches at first, each of which will be between 1,000 and 1,200 square meters large. They plan to open stores in Rehovot, Petah Tikva, Haifa, Jerusalem, and more, and to avoid opening stores in upscale malls.

Old Navy Opens First Store in Mainland China

Gap Inc. announced Old Navy's opening of the brand's first store in China, continuing its expansion outside the U.S. With the debut of Old Navy's first company-operated store, opening March 1 on Shanghai's famous Nanjing West Road, the company plans to build on Gap brand's three-year run of successful growth in the apparel market. A dedicated Old Navy e-commerce site will also be available simultaneous to the store opening, allowing customers across mainland China to shop the brand's offerings for the entire family. The 22,000 square foot (2,000 square meters), three-level Shanghai store is located in the Jing'an District, a major commercial area known for shopping, sightseeing, hotels and office buildings that draws thousands of locals and overseas visitors. The store features iconic elements from Old Navy's U.S. stores such as the famous 'Super Modelquins' and Magic the Dog, as well as interactive features that will make shopping fun for the entire family, such as touchscreen video games and game tables. Old Navy plans to open about 25 additional stores this year in Japan, bringing the total number of stores in the country to approximately 43 by the end of 2014.
