Kloeckner Metals and Double Stone Steel Announce Supply Agreement
Oct 8 14
Kloeckner Metals announced an exclusive distributorship agreement with Double Stone Steel for the marketing of PVD coated Stainless and Aluminum sheet products. Under this agreement, Kloeckner will also exclusively market related fabrication services, anti-fingerprint and antimicrobial coating options along with Stainless Mesh. These products add flexibility and creative options to the building, equipment and component design teams at customers. Double Stone's innovative process of PVD Titanium Ion Coating significantly improves the performance of Stainless Steel by dramatically enhancing corrosion resistance, scratch and wear resistance and can be specified in a broad spectrum of colors -- 42 "standards" or custom-matched to a design scheme. The process is more environmentally friendly than electroplating or painting, with zero discharge of gas, water waste and other residues. The deal between Kloeckner and Double Stone Steel includes exclusive distribution rights throughout the whole of North America and sales within the Brazilian market.
Kloeckner Metals Announces Initial Operation of Light Gauge Processing Center
Oct 9 13
Kloeckner Metals announced on June 14, 2012, that it would build a light gauge flat rolled processing center on a greenfield site in the Southeast. Kloeckner announced that their goal to have this facility, located in Calvert, AL, fully operational by the end of the third quarter of 2013 has been met. The facility is approximately 100,000 square feet and offers slitting from thicknesses of 0.010' to 0.250' for mild steel up to 50,000 psi yield strength, or 0.010" to 0.125" for advanced high strength steels used in the automotive industry up to 195,000 psi yield strength, and widths up to 72" max. It will be able to handle coils up to 80,000 lbs. Some unique features include a Five High Cluster Leveler with automatic controls, along with both top and bottom inspection stations. Crane capacity is 85,000 lbs., and steel can be loaded or unloaded via truck or rail. This new facility can be expanded to over 400,000 square feet, if required. It is the second Kloeckner Metals location in Alabama. The company currently operates a 78,000 square foot general line service center in Bessemer, AL, part of the company's Heavy Carbon Group.
