Residential Funding Co. LLC filed lawsuits alleging breach of contract against UBS Real Estate Securities Inc., SunTrust Mortgage Inc. and GreenPoint Mortgage Funding Inc. The lenders were accused of selling mortgage loans to the Residential Capital LLC affiliate that were defective due to missing or inaccurate documentation, fraud by borrowers or faulty appraisals, according to the report. Residential Funding purchased at least $3 billion in loans from the SunTrust Banks Inc. unit and millions of dollars worth of mortgages from the Capital One Financial Corp. affiliate. Residential Funding wants the lenders to buy back the defective loans, which were grouped with similar loans into a securitization trust.

CIFG Assurance North America Inc Agrees to Settlement with Goldman Sachs and GreenPoint Mortgage Funding Inc

CIFG Assurance North America Inc. has agreed to settle lawsuits that it filed against Goldman Sachs and GreenPoint Mortgage Funding Inc. CIFG has sued the companies over mortgage-backed securities. It complained about GreenPoint in October and had sued Goldman Sachs over USD 275 million of mortgage backed securities. CIFG has reportedly agreed to settle the cases in principle.
