The creative director for Gap's Banana Republic brand is stepping down after 18 months in that role. The move announced on October 8, 2015 comes as the chain, which also operates Old Navy and Gap stores, reported a sharp drop for a key revenue measure in September for the upscale brand. It marked the third-straight month of declines that were all in the double digits. Marissa Webb, who was hired to re-energize the Banana Republic brand and is known for her oversized jackets, will transition into a creative-adviser role "affording her more time to focus on her own collection".

Banana Republic is to introduce Modern, a signature fragrance line for women and men, available in stores October 13, 2014. Modern reflects the sophisticated yet easy-going spirit of today's adventurer and invites all on a journey of scent and style. Banana Republic Modern Woman and Modern Man are packaged in classic square box sets, white for her and black for him. Each fragrance is contained in its own signature glass bottle his, a defined square and hers, a feminine, circular shape. Both have a horizontal pattern across the front and vertical across the back, an element unique to the heritage of Banana Republic's original Modern franchise. In US markets, Modern Woman and Modern Man will both be available in 1.7oz/50mL size, retailing for $48.00 and $45.00, respectively. Both will be available at Banana Republic stores in the US and Canada in October 2014, and in Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, Italy and France by the end of the year. All other international markets will launch in the first half of 2015.
