M.J. Mike Marsh, who has been acting president and CEO of SaskPower since last fall, has been named president on a permanent basis. The appointment took effect immediately. Marsh was named in the acting role following the resignation of Robert Watson in October 2014 after the unsuccessful rollout of smart meters. Marsh has been with SaskPower since 1991.

SaskPower CEO Robert Watson has resigned following release of a report on the smart meter program. Bill Boyd, the minister responsible for SaskPower announced that Watson submitted his resignation on the weekend and it was accepted. Watson was appointed to the top job at the provincially owned power utility in 2010 after six years as CEO at SaskTel.
