Coborn's, Inc. has hired Tom Williams as Director of Produce and Floral Merchandising, reporting to Vice President of Fresh Merchandising Emily Coborn. As Director of Produce and Floral, Williams will develop and lead the implementation of produce and floral merchandising strategies for the company's various retail divisions, including Coborn's, Cash Wise, Marketplace Foods and CobornsDelivers. He will be responsible for achieving desired sales and gross profit results, and maximizing produce and floral distribution. He also will be accountable for aggressively leading innovation in the produce and floral departments to create a shopping experience that reflects each retail divisions' unique brand promises, while consistently reflecting the company's overall vision of inspiring happiness, healthy living and simplicity for each of the guests. Williams will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with vendors and suppliers. In this role, he will provide direct supervision to the Produce and Floral Retail Supervisors and indirect supervision to Department Managers. Williams most recently served as Manager of Corporate Retail Produce and Floral at SpartanNash Company.

Coborn's Opens New Separate Central Baking Facility in St. Cloud, Minn

Coborn's has opened a new separate central baking facility in St. Cloud, Minn., that will exclusively produce gluten-free products. The certified gluten-free facility will use only certified gluten-free ingredients to make mostly fresh items that will be available in all stores starting next week. As a further precaution, Coborn's plans to test incoming ingredients and outgoing products to ensure they are in fact gluten-free. The preliminary product line includes hamburger and hot dog buns, breads, cookies, muffins, cakes, cupcakes, brownies and seasonal items.

Coborn's Inc. Announces Management Changes

Coborn's Inc. announced that it is expanding its leadership team with three new executives to help the company continue to grow and deal with the evolving shopping landscape. The new executives are: Tom Velin, CFO. Velin succeeds Pam Osborn, who left Coborn’s at the end of 2013. Velin was previously senior vice president and CFO at Experian Health Carte, Minneapolis. He also was a CFO and senior executive at SPS Commerce in Minneapolis, Advance Duplication Services in Plymouth, Minn., and August Technology Corp; Dale Monson, VP, information technology, a new position. Monson was previously SVP and CIO for Oriental Trading, Omaha, Neb. He has more than 25 years of technology and 17 years of e-commerce marketing, technology and enterprise-level application development experience; and Greg Sandeno, EVP, sales, a new title. Sandeno was previously president and CEO at C&K Market, Brookings, Ore. He has also held leadership roles with Nash Finch Co., Minneapolis, and the Portland, Ore.-based Fred Meyer division of Kroger Co. Velin and Monson's appointments are effective March 3. Sandeno's appointment is effective March 10. All three report to Chris Coborn, president and CEO of Coborn's.
