University of Arkansas System Announces Board Appointments

University of Arkansas System announced that Kelly Eichler, and former gas company executive Sheffield Nelson to the Board of Trustees, effective March 1, 2016. Kelly Eichler's appointment will expire March 1, 2026. She has served as a law clerk at the Arkansas Court of Appeals, a Pulaski County deputy prosecutor, a partner in private practice and a special judge in circuit and juvenile courts. She also served in the administration of former Gov. Mike Huckabee. Nelson is the former chairman, president and CEO of gas company Arkla. Over the past 30 years, he has been a senior partner at the law firm, House, Wallace, Nelson and Jewell, and a successor firm, Jack Nelson and Jones. Nelson's appointment will expire March 1, 2025.

University of Arkansas System announced that it has named an acting chancellor for its Monticello campus days after its interim chancellor was hospitalized. The company President Donald Bobbitt named Jimmie Yeiser, who is currently the provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, as the acting leader. Yeiser will serve in that role until interim Chancellor Jay Jones returns. Jones was taken to a Little Rock hospital. Jones, 51, took over the 3,850-student university in an interim role after Jack Lassiter retired Jan. 5. The university is in the middle of a search for Lassiter's successor.
