The University of Hawaii Names David Matlin as New Athletic Director

The University of Hawaii named Hawaii Bowl executive director David Matlin as new athletic director. The former UH athletics department employee has run the Hawaii Bowl and the Diamond Head Classic for about seven years. The selection is pending approval by the UH Board of Regents next month. Matlin has worked as an assistant ticket manager and marketing assistant at the university. He served as associate director of the Hawaii Bowl since its inception in 2002, and became executive director of the game for ESPN Events in 2008. Matlin will succeed director Ben Jay, who announced his resignation on December 9, 2014.
University of Hawaii System Names New Garret Yoshimi as Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Garret Yoshimi has been named vice president for information technology and chief information officer of the University of Hawaii System, a position previously held by university President David Lassner. As CIO for the university, Yoshimi will have oversight over technological services delivered to all campuses statewide. Yoshimi's past six-year experience at UH under the direction of Lassner as telecommunications manager and later as director of technology infrastructure will be helpful at this new position. In addition to his experience at the university, Yoshimi has served as vice president and chief operating officer for the HonoÂlulu-based eWorld Enterprise Solutions, and as CIO for the Hawaii Judiciary. Yoshimi will begin his new job on January 5.
The University of Hawaii Board Appoints Kalbert Young to Serve as Vice President for Budget and Finance and Chief Financial Officer

The University of Hawaii Board of Regents has appointed former Hawaii state Budget Director Kalbert Young to serve as vice president for budget and finance and chief financial officer of the University of Hawaii System. Young, who starts his new post in January, 2015 will succeed Howard Todo, who is set to retire in October 2015 after holding the position for 10 years. In his position as state director of budget and finance, Young was responsible for the state's $11 billion budget. The University of Hawaii alumnus also worked alongside the university on its budget and campus-level initiatives.
