Birmingham-Southern College Announces Executive Changes

Birmingham-Southern College named Linda Flaherty-Goldsmith as new president after Ed Leonard vacated the role. She previously served as the school's chief of staff and also as a consultant to the BSC board. Leonard was named president in May 2015, coming to BSC from Bethany College in Kansas. Bethany was put on probation by the Higher Learning Commission in June 2015. After serving as chief of staff at BSC until May 2013, Flaherty-Goldsmith worked as a pro bono consultant with Human Rights First. Prior to her first tenure at BSC, she had several years of experience in higher education, including roles at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Alabama System. She also served as vice president and chief operating officer of the University of Connecticut.

Birmingham-Southern College Appoints Denson Franklin as Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees

Bradley announced partner Denson Franklin has been named vice chairman of the Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees. Franklin will serve a two-year term. He is one of several prominent Birmingham executives on the board for the private school.

Birmingham-Southern College Announces Executive Changes

Birmingham-Southern College has hired Edward F. Leonard III as its new president. Leonard comes to BSC from his role as president of Bethany College in Kansas, a position he has held since 2007. He will be the 14th president in Birmingham-Southern's history. Prior to Bethany, Leonard worked at Wilmington College, William Jewell College and Georgia College. Leonard succeeds Gen. Charles Krulak, who announced his retirement last December.
