Mary Schmidt Campbell, Ph.D., begins her presidency at Spelman College on Aug. 3, just a few days before the accomplished Spelman class of 2019 arrives to start a densely packed week of new student orientation. Spelman’s Board of Trustees appointed Dr. Campbell as the 10th president of one of the women’s colleges and the HBCU. She succeeds Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum who retired after serving as president for 13 years. Dr. Campbell comes to Spelman as dean emerita of Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.

Spelman College has named Mary Schmidt Campbell as its 10th president of the Atlanta-based historically-black women's institution. Campbell, who will begin her new job on Aug. 1, 2015 following the tenure of Beverly Daniel Tatum's 13 years as Spelman's president, is the dean emerita of the Tisch School of the Arts and university professor in the Department of Art and Public Policy at New York University. Dr. Campbell assumes the role officially on August 1, 2015, having served as dean emerita of the Tisch School of the Arts and university professor in the Department of Art and Public Policy at New York University.

Spelman College has appointed Ingrid Hayes as Vice President for Enrollment Management effective December 2, 2013. In this role, Hayes will provide strategic leadership for enrollment initiatives from student recruitment and matriculation to graduation. Formerly an associate vice president for Enrollment Management at the College, she has direct oversight of the offices of the registrar, admissions, financial aid and career development. Hayes returns to the College after spending three years as assistant provost for Enrollment Services at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
