Liquid Telecom Launches FTTH in Zambia

Liquid Telecom launched a fibre-to-the-home service in Zambia, albeit it on a limited scale at present. The telco pledged to invest USD 15 million in the rollout this year to increase coverage to 20,000 premises in the capital by the end of December. The fibre link is scheduled to be completed in June. Liquid Telecom then plans to push on with the build to reach the border towns of Kazungula and Sesheke to connect with Namibia and Botswana.

The Liquid Telecom Group announced the expansion and investment plans of its operations in Rwanda which will enable more businesses and homes to access its high-speed broadband service both within Rwanda and surrounding countries. Over the next two years, Liquid Telecom Rwanda, the wholesale business in Rwanda, will invest a further $34 million laying thousands of kilometres of new fibre across the country and to the borders of neighbouring Burundi, the DRC, Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. The new fibre will enable more businesses and homes to access Liquid Telecoms broadband service. In addition, operators in neighbouring countries will be able to interconnect with Liquid Telecom Rwandas network for additional security, backup for Uganda and an alternative routing option through Tanzania.
