Mcconnell Air Force Base Adopts Avaya Government Solutions's Fabric Connect Technologies
Nov 4 15
Avaya Government Solutions announced that McConnell Air Force Base has adopted Avaya Fabric Connect technologies to modernize its network infrastructure that supports 6,000 users. The new Avaya architecture will improve protection against cyberattacks through a unique approach that makes the McConnell network invisible to scanning techniques used to uncover network topologies and develop a plan of attack. McConnell can also now quickly extend services to new facilities, including the hangers being built to house 36 new KC-46 'supertanker' aircraft. Network administrators can add services without making changes at the network core - allowing them to accomplish in minutes what previously would have taken many weeks of effort. This same simplicity allowed McConnell's IT team to perform the cutover to the Avaya new platform after only a few hours of training and will be a critical asset during periodic staff rotations. Avaya Fabric Connect reconfigures itself automatically in response to network traffic and changing conditions, which reduces day-to-day operations and maintenance demands, improves load-sharing and increases availability. Avaya Fabric Connect is based on IEEE-standard shortest path bridging protocols.
National Security Technologies Selects Avaya Collaboration Solutions
Jan 14 14
Avaya Government Solutions announced that National Security Technologies (NSTec) has selected a new Avaya unified communication and video solution to modernize the infrastructure used by its clients and significantly reduce operating costs. NSTec manages operations at the Nevada National Security Site for the U.S. Department of Energy. The legacy voice and video infrastructure NSTec oversees had become expensive to repair and maintain. NSTec decided to invest in an Avaya platform to enhance collaboration and deliver the reliability needed to support its mission. An extensive business case developed by Avaya Government Solutions estimates that NSTec can realize more than $2 million a year in recurring savings on operating costs with the new system, which will serve approximately 4,500 personnel. NSTec and its clients will improve productivity by using Avaya Scopia video conferencing to support team meetings -- eliminating the time and expense of travel from remote sites. Avaya Scopia also will significantly increase the capacity to deliver video-based training.
