As of February 27, 2002, Central Pacific Minerals N.L. was acquired by Southern Pacific Petroleum NL. Central Pacific Minerals N.L. (SPP/CPM) engages in the discovery and commercial development of oil shale deposits. The company owns 10 oil shale deposits totaling approximately 17.3 billion barrels of in-situ shale oil resources in central Queensland, Australia. Located near Gladstone, the Stuart deposit has a total in-situ shale oil resource of three billion barrels and the capacity to produce more than 200,000 barrels per day.
