LYSOGENE Enters into Strategic Collaboration with University of Massachusetts Medical School and Auburn University

LYSOGENE announced that it has entered into a strategic collaboration with the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) and Auburn University (AU). Through the collaboration, LYSOGENE, UMMS and AU will develop IND-supporting preclinical studies in GM1-gangliosidosis, a rare, inherited disorder characterized by severe neurological impairment, using adeno-associated virus (AAV) gene therapy technology. The collaboration will combine LYSOGENE's translational and clinical expertise in gene therapy for CNS disorders with the unique preclinical expertise and infrastructure of UMMS and AU to design and test innovative AAV-based gene therapy approaches to treat GM1-gangliosidosis.

Auburn University Announces Appointment of Diane Boyd as Director of Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning, Effective September 1

Auburn University has announced the appointment of Diane Boyd of Furman University as director of Auburn University's Biggio Center for the enhancement of teaching and learning, effective September 1. Prior to joining Auburn University, Boyd served as the associate director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Furman University from 2006-2014. As director, Boyd will provide leadership to the Biggio Center's professional development programs for faculty and graduate students, as well as the Instructional Multimedia Group. She also will work with academic units to identify and facilitate new programs designed to support pedagogical principles and technology-based initiatives across campus.

Auburn University Names Zhanjiang John Liu as Associate Vice President for Research and Associate Provost, Effective December 1

Auburn University announced the appointment of Zhanjiang John Liu as Auburn University's associate vice president for research and associate provost, effective December 1. As associate vice president for research and associate provost, Liu will serve as a liaison between the university's administration, the colleges and schools, the Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, in addition to representing Auburn among key stakeholders in government, industry and foundations. Liu will be responsible for supporting academic units in identifying, facilitating, promoting and developing sponsorship for cross-disciplinary research initiatives, in addition to working closely with the associate deans for research and various university committees and governance groups to implement Auburn's strategic research goals.
