WiTricity Corporation announced that Dell's Latitude 7285 incorporates the company's magnetic resonance-based wireless charging for PCs. The Latitude 7285 is AirFuel-certified and will be interoperable with the emerging magnetic resonance-based wireless charging ecosystem, in which WiTricity technology is foundational. With growing teams, office space at a premium, and workers increasingly mobile, workplaces seek aesthetically pleasing solutions that drive efficiency and mobility throughout the day. In parallel, employees depend on an increasing number of personal devices that frequently need to be charged. Wireless data connectivity has been widespread in notebooks for years, but there is one wire that has always remained in the equation – the power cord. The new Latitude 7285 enables a streamlined user experience by allowing people to ditch all cords to the device and have laptops charge seamlessly when placed on an AirFuel compatible charging surface. When combined with a WiGig wireless dock, have a simple and convenient workspace with no wires to the device. The Latitude 7285 will be demonstrated at the 2017 CES Show at Dell’s suite in the Yardbird Southern Table & Bar, located in the Venetian Hotel.
WiTricity Unveils WT8800™ Wireless Charging Controller to Catalyze Magnetic Resonance-Based Wireless Charging Ecosystem

WiTricity announced the WT8800™ Wireless Charging Controller. The WT8800 controller incorporates WiTricity’s magnetic resonance technology, and unique proprietary know how, making it possible for consumer brands to build wirelessly-powered products of the future. The WT8800 controller will accelerate consumer adoption of wireless charging by enabling delightful user experiences across multiple consumer electronics markets including wearables, smartphones, laptops and others. Solutions currently on the market that require precise alignment between device and power source are not meeting that demand. WiTricity’s magnetic resonance technology enables spatial freedom, the ability to charge through materials and the charging of multiple devices with the same source – key differentiators for the desired end-user experience. Working at the same speed as wired charging, WiTricity lets consumers power up in a fast, natural way. The WT8800 controller brings its magnetic resonance technology to products, enabling wireless power transmitters with scalable output power, ranging from a few Watts to 100 Watts to meet varying requirements of wearables, smartphones, laptops and other devices. The mixed signal System on Chip (SoC) architecture integrates the complete analog and digital controller functions of a Power Transmitter Unit (PTU) compliant with the AirFuel Alliance's Resonant Wireless Charging Standard, ensuring ecosystem compatibility. The specific functions integrated include functionality to control the DC bus voltage, power amplifier and user interface. It also incorporates all appropriate safety features including current, voltage and temperature monitoring. AirFuel-certified Wireless Power Transmitter system reference designs utilizing the WT8800 are available for up to 30 Watts of delivered power. These designs are being leveraged by consumer product companies and their ODM manufacturers licensed by WiTricity. Customization for other power levels is contemplated in the design.
WiTricity and Prodrive Technologies to Develop 11 kW EV Wireless Charging System for European Carmaker’s 2019 Planned Introduction

WiTricity announced they are collaborating with Prodrive Technologies to design a high-performance 11kW wireless charging system. The two companies were selected to design the system by a leading European carmaker that plans to release its first wirelessly-charged vehicles in 2019. WiTricity will provide its foundational magnetic resonance intellectual property, complete reference designs and consulting services to the project. Based on the WiTricity designs, Prodrive will develop and industrialize an automotive mass market system and implement the automaker’s specific requirements. By incorporating WiTricity technology, the resulting Prodrive system will be capable of charge rates up to 11kW at high efficiency, comparable to the efficiency of present wired charging systems.
