WiTricity and Prodrive Technologies to Develop 11 kW EV Wireless Charging System for European Carmaker’s 2019 Planned Introduction
Sep 20 16
WiTricity announced they are collaborating with Prodrive Technologies to design a high-performance 11kW wireless charging system. The two companies were selected to design the system by a leading European carmaker that plans to release its first wirelessly-charged vehicles in 2019. WiTricity will provide its foundational magnetic resonance intellectual property, complete reference designs and consulting services to the project. Based on the WiTricity designs, Prodrive will develop and industrialize an automotive mass market system and implement the automaker’s specific requirements. By incorporating WiTricity technology, the resulting Prodrive system will be capable of charge rates up to 11kW at high efficiency, comparable to the efficiency of present wired charging systems.

Mehta will be working out of the company's Austin Development Center and is charged with leading development of WiTricity's semiconductor solutions. O’Connell is based at the organization's Watertown headquarters and is responsible for increasing WiTricity's brand awareness and recognition, especially as it relates to the semiconductor market and the numerous applications for wireless power.
WiTricity Signs Licensing Agreement with Delphi for Wireless Charging of Smartphones in Vehicles
Jul 13 16
Expanding on Delphi’s existing license of WiTricity’s efficient high-power technology for wireless charging of electric vehicles (EVs), WiTricity announced a technology licensing agreement with Delphi Automotive Systems, LLC. Under terms of the agreement, Delphi will license WiTricity’s intellectual property (IP) for magnetic resonance technology to commercialize efficient, high-performance wireless charging systems for in-vehicle charging of mobile consumer devices that will comply with the resonant wireless charging specification developed by the AirFuel Alliance. Magnetic resonance technology from WiTricity offers a host of unique benefits over existing wireless charging solutions, including simultaneous wireless charging of multiple devices with differing power requirements and “spatial freedom” that eliminates the hassle of precise alignment and adds additional reach in three dimensions. Since joining the AirFuel™ Alliance (formerly the Alliance for Wireless Power) as a board member, WiTricity has helped lead the development of the AirFuel resonant specification, and continues to work with the AirFuel™ Alliance to enrich and strengthen the technology for AirFuel-based wireless charging in consumer electronics.
