Perspecsys Introduces New Data Protection Solution for Force.com-Developed Applications

Perspecsys announced it has extended its AppProtex Cloud Data Protection Gateway to include an innovative new module named Visual Policy Manager. Perspecsys developed the AppProtex Visual Policy Manager. Perspecsys developed the AppProtex Visual Policy Manager in response to the growing demand within enterprise IT organizations to use public cloud PaaS platforms, to develop their own specialized corporate applications. These applications, ranging from loan-origination systems in banking to medical diagnostic collaboration portals in healthcare and medical devices, frequently necessitate the use of highly sensitive and regulated data in the cloud. Perspecsys’ Visual Policy Manager ensures that this data never leaves the corporation’s control. The AppProtex Visual Policy Manager gives application developers a simple way to assign data protection rules to secure data fields in their applications. Within the span of a few minutes, they can use a graphical user interface to designate specific fields or documents with policies to encrypt or tokenize them before they leave the enterprise and go to their cloud applications. This means that these protected data types will be secured after the data leaves the corporate firewall through all phases of its 'cloud life': while in-transit to the cloud, while at-rest in the cloud, and while it is being processed in memory in the cloud. In addition to securing the data, the AppProtex Cloud Data Protection Platform ensures that the users of these cloud applications can still use the application’s features like searching, sorting and reporting – even on data that has been encrypted or tokenized. Compliance and privacy professionals are looking for assurances from their partners in IT and security that data is being processed in a compliant way when it is put in the hands of 3rd party cloud providers, and the AppProtex Visual Policy Manager is designed to enable collaboration between these teams. After security and IT professionals have created the data protection policies required for a newly developed web application, they can launch the application in a real-time policy inspection mode. From there they can use audit capabilities to visually confirm (via a simple system of visual color-coding of data field elements on the screen) that the appropriate data encryption and tokenization rules are being enforced. Compliance, privacy and risk management partners can also use this visual inspection capability to easily complete their audit responsibilities during security review sessions. Perspecsys’ Gateway supports organizations and enterprises in sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, banking and more, which need to comply with government regulations specifying that strong, well vetted encryption and tokenization techniques be used to secure sensitive information. The Perspecsys Gateway was architected to give enterprises the flexibility they need to select the security techniques that meet their specific requirements. The Perspecsys platform eliminates the barriers that previously prevented cloud adoption, by letting enterprises take full advantage of cloud SaaS and PaaS applications such as Salesforce.com and ServiceNow while ensuring their sensitive data remains on-premise, under their control and in compliance with data protection regulations at all times. Perspecsys was the first and remains the only company to combine all these elements effectively for its customers.

Human Care Systems Selects Perspecsys to Secure Sensitive Patient Data in Cloud-Based SaaS Applications

Perspecsys announced that Human Care Systems is extending its European deployment of Perspecsys AppProtex Cloud Data Protection Gateway to power its growing Canadian operations. Human Care Systems initially selected Perspecsys solution because of its ability to provide the high levels of data compliance and protection without impacting the usability and functionality of the cloud-based SaaS applications used by their business. Perspecsys advanced architecture and highly secure form of tokenization allows Human Care Systems to easily comply with an increasingly complex set of data governance requirements that are emerging around the globe while they enjoy the business benefits of using the latest SaaS cloud applications.
