Harris CapRock Communications Launches New Managed Communications Solution
Feb 27 15
Harris CapRock Communications has launched its new unified, fully managed satellite, wireless and terrestrial connectivity service, which is reportedly designed to reduce customers' voice, data and equipment management costs. Harris CapRock's unique service offering combines a multi-band antenna with an Intelligent Communications Director (ICD). The multi-band antenna allows for C-, Ku- and Ka-band connectivity with no additional moving parts, meaning that any satellite orbiting the Earth can be accessed with no technician intervention required. The ICD is a geographically aware smartbox that recognizes where the multi-band antenna is around the world and carries a database of the network footprints available. The device is aware of the operator's traffic and can route traffic intelligently over the most appropriate network path based on speed, latency, location and cost. By optimizing the network traffic, the ICD enhances the end-to-end experience, completing an intelligent routing solution with end-to-end application performance management. Other telecommunication services supported by Harris CapRock One include fiber, point-to-point and point-to-multi-point radio, WiMax, terrestrial Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), and private and carrier-based Long Term Evolution. Additionally, Harris CapRock can deploy hybrid networks that leverage multiple transport technologies, providing true "no touch roaming" services across an entire fleet.
Harris CapRock Pools Together Satellite and Terrestrial Connectivity Options in New Maritime Solution
Feb 24 15
Harris CapRock has unveiled a fully managed connectivity solution that combines satellite, wireless and terrestrial technology for maritime users. The solution, dubbed Harris CapRock One, brings together satellites from Medium and Geosynchronous Earth Orbit (MEO and GEO) with options such as terrestrial Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), private and carrier-based Long Term Evolution (LTE), and WiMax. Harris CapRock One uses VSATs equipped with advanced multiband antennas that enable transmit and receive in either C, Ku, L and Ka band with no mechanical changes. The switching happens automatically, depending on the location by changing a relay to select what box the modem connects to, simplifying the process. The solution uses an Intelligent Communications Director (ICD) to monitor for connectivity options and automatically route to the best available network based on speed, latency, location and cost.
