Pepe Reportedly Hires Morgan Stanley To Sell Itself

Pepe Jeans, S.L. has reportedly hired Morgan Stanley to sell itself. The sale will include both the Pepe Jeans and Hackett brands and could fetch as much as €700 million, people familiar with the matter said, asking not to be identified because the discussions are private. Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (NYSE:KKR), CVC Capital Partners Limited, PAI Partners, Permira Advisers Ltd. as well as strategic companies are reportedly interested in acquiring Pepe Jeans. Pepe Jeans is owned by Torreal, SCR, S.A., Artá Capital S.G.E.C.R., S.A., L Capital Management SAS and its management team, led by Chief Executive Officer Carlos Ortega. Carlos Ortega will stay on as Chief Executive Officer of Pepe Jeans, the people said. Representatives at Torreal, Arta, KKR, Permira and CVC declined to comment, while representatives for Pepe Jeans, L Capital and PAI did not immediately respond to requests for comment. A spokesman for Morgan Stanley declined to comment.
