Oman Airports Management Company to Link All Airports in Oman Through Fixed Telecommunications Solutions

Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC), in collaboration with telecom services provider Omantel, will link all airports in Oman through fixed telecommunications solutions. The first phase of the project will connect Muscat International Airport with Salalah Airport through a fibre-optic network with speeds of up to 155 mb. Phase two will link additional airports such as Sohar and Duqm Airports. Upon completion, the project will allow for advanced fixed telecommunication capabilities and connectivity for all airports throughout the country and will provide greater efficiency and convenience for airport staff, sub-contractors and passengers. As per the agreement, Omantel will be providing OAMC with the latest and most advanced fixed telecommunication services in addition to ensuring 24 hour-a-day network monitoring and direct and round-the-clock technical support by a dedicated team of network specialist. The project also entails a total of 13,000 Integrated Services for Digital Network (ISDN) lines to be installed in Muscat International Airport and Salalah Airport, in addition to the provision of Internet leased line service connectivity with a speed of 34 Mbps in both airports.
