Louvre Group to Open 11 New Hotels in Mena Region

Louvre Hotels Group announced plans to open 11 new hotels in the region this year, including six properties in the GCC. The move forms part of an aggressive expansion plan that will see the European hospitality giant greatly boost its operational footprint in Mena region to have 95 hotels and over 15,000 guest rooms under its regional portfolio by 2020. The new openings in 2016 - set to no less than 1,500 keys to the group’s existing inventory in the Gulf region - include three hotels in Saudi Arabia, two in the UAE and one in Qatar. Louvre Hotels Group said it plans to open several key properties in Qatar, Algeria, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Tunisia year 2016.

Rami A Moukarzel has joined Louvre Hotel Group to head up the company's development and acquisitions function. In his new role as vice president development & acquisitions Middle East & North Africa, he will support the group's president Amine E. Moukarzel in driving growth of the company in the region. Rami Moukarzel began his career in 2002 in the pre-opening taskforce at Movenpick Hotel Beirut, before joining Hyatt Hotels the following year in an F&B operations role.
Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels Plans To Acquire Louvre Hotels From Starwood Capital For Up To €1.21 Billion

Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels (Group) Company Limited (SEHK:2006) plans to acquire Louvre Hotels Group from Starwood Capital Group in a deal valued between €1.25 billion and €1.5 billion. Shanghai Jin Jiang International Hotels, which said the actual consideration of the deal will be in a range of €960 million to €1.21 billion, plans to fund the purchase via internal resources and bank loans. The company has been actively looking at opportunities to invest in Louvre Hotels Group and other potential targets over the past three years.
