ZTE Corporation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with U Mobile Sdn Bhd on the development of Pre5G mobile broadband technologies, deepening the two companies’ partnership on next-generation network innovations. The partnership will help U Mobile deliver substantial network performance upgrades using ZTE’s proprietary Pre5G technologies including Massive MIMO (multiple input multiple output). The MOU, signed in Shenzhen by Too Tian Jen, Chief Technology Officer of U Mobile, and Steven Ge, Managing Director of ZTE Malaysia, also covers collaboration between the two companies on research and development of 5G technologies, in addition to Pre5G.
U Mobile Denies Merger Talks With REDtone

U Mobile Sdn Bhd's Chief Executive Officer Wong Heang Tuck denied market rumour of a possible merger-and-acquisition exercise between U Mobile and REDtone International Bhd (KLSE:REDTONE). "There are no talks with REDtone. And there is no discussion on this (M&A) at the shareholders' level, at least, not that I know of. As far as we at U Mobile are concerned, it's business as usual," Wong added.

Malaysian mobile operator U Mobile has partnered with Oppo Mobile Malaysia to launch the Oppo Joy and Oppo Neo 5 handsets. U Mobile will soon introduce Oppo prepaid and postpaid bundle plans. Pricing details are expected to be released on 27 October.
