Purdue University Appoints Janice S. Blum as a Vice Chancellor

Janice S Blum, Chancellor's Professor in the Indiana University School of Medicine's Department of Microbiology and Immunology, has been selected as the associate vice chancellor for graduate education at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis and associate dean of the University Graduate School, Indiana University, pending approval by the IU Board of Trustees, said Nasser Paydar, executive vice chancellor and chief academic officer at IUPUI. In her new role, Blum will play a key role in leading campus efforts to develop tomorrow's intellectual leaders and scholars through greater opportunities in graduate education, particularly doctorate and interprofessional programs. As associate vice chancellor, Blum's responsibilities will include fostering graduate program development, shepherding proposals through the review process and assisting in the development of programs on the IUPUI campus. As associate dean, she will provide leadership for student recruitment, admissions, university-wide fellowships, transfer credit, thesis proposals, dissertation committees, student diversity, student academic standing and student affairs.
