Santa Clara University Appoints Tim Haley to the Board of Trustees

Santa Clara University's board of trustees elected a new trustee, Silicon Valley venture capitalist Tim Haley. The election brings to 44 the number of members of the governing body. Haley is a co-founder and managing director of the Menlo Park-based venture-capital firm Redpoint Ventures, where he focuses on investments in software, consumer Internet and digital-media companies.

Santa Clara University announced that two Jesuit educators were elected to Santa Clara University's Board of Trustees, bringing to 44 the number of members of the governing body that helps steer strategies and priorities of the 163-year-old private University. The two new trustees, Erick Berrelleza, S.J., and Matthew E. Carnes, S.J., were approved by a board vote on June 6, 2014. Both are members of the California Province of the Society of Jesus. Berrelleza currently serves as a pastoral minister at St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Charlestown, Mass., and researches with the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate at Georgetown University. His previous appointments have included advocacy for asylum seekers with Jesuit Refugee Service in Munich, Germany; chaplain at the Institute for Latin American Concern in the Dominican Republic, an immersion organization for Creighton University students. Carnes, a native of San Carlos, Calif., has been assistant professor of government at Georgetown since 2009 and is the recipient of several awards for outstanding teaching and faculty excellence. He spent a year as a fellow at Stanford's Hoover Institution and a semester as a fellow at the University of Notre Dame's Kellogg Institute for International Studies.
Santa Clara University Appoints Michael Hindery as Vice President for Finance and Administration

Santa Clara University reported that Michael Hindery has been named vice president for finance and administration. As vice president for finance and administration, Hindery will be a principal member of the University's executive team, reporting to University President Michael Engh, S.J., to provide leadership for the administration and finance units. He will also play a key role in the University's upcoming capital campaign, construction projects and the implementation of the overall strategic plan. Hindery has nearly 30 years experience in budget and finance, facilities management and campus planning and comes to Santa Clara University from University of California, San Francisco, (UCSF) where he is currently vice dean for administration, finance, and clinical programs.
