Santa Clara University announced the appointment of four new members to its Board of Trustees. Henry J. Gage III, Peter C. Gotcher, Robert W. Lloyd, and Gregory Vaughan were approved by a board vote on June 3, 2016. Henry J. Gage III is an associate attorney with Richard, Thorson, Graves & Royer LLP. His practice is focused on the defense of self-insured employers and public entities in litigation set before the administrative law judges of the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. Peter C. Gotcher is an independent investor with decades of experience in supporting innovations in digital and emerging media. Mr. Gotcher is chairman of the board of directors of Dolby Laboratories. Santa Clara University Names Dorian Llywelyn, S.J. as Executive Director of Ignatian Center

Dorian Llywelyn, S.J., has been named to lead the Ignatian Center for Jesuit Education at Santa Clara University. Fr. Llywelyn will begin his appointment on August 1, 2016. As Executive Director of the Ignatian Center, Fr. Llywelyn will lead the 15-member team in its work of promoting and enhancing the distinctively Jesuit, Catholic tradition of education at Santa Clara. The Center engages campus members, local neighbors, and the global community through its signature programs including the Bannan Institutes, Arrupe Weekly Engagement, immersions, Ignatian tradition offerings, and the Thriving Neighbors Initiative. Fr. Llywelyn will also lead the University's efforts in promoting and strengthening the understanding, engagement, and shared appreciation of the Jesuit, Catholic character of the University. Fr. Llywelyn comes to Santa Clara from Heythrop College at the University of London and Loyola Marymount University, where he has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Christian spirituality, theology and culture, and ecclesiology and ecumenism. He has also held visiting chairs at Marquette University and Seattle University.
Santa Clara University Names Sabrina Zirkel as Dean of Santa Clara’s School of Education and Counseling Psychology, Effective June 1, 2016

Santa Clara University announced that Dr. Sabrina Zirkel, Associate Dean of Education at Mills College, will be appointed Dean of Santa Clara’s School of Education and Counseling Psychology, effective June 1, 2016. Zirkel will provide overall academic, administrative, and financial leadership for the School. She will report directly to Dr. Dennis Jacobs, University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. As demonstrated through her scholarship and community work, Zirkel possesses a deep commitment to issues of diversity, justice, and inclusion. She serves as an advisor to the African American Regional Educational Alliance (AAREA) and to STEM STEPS, programs that seek to improve the educational experiences of African American students in the East Bay. Zirkel will succeed Dr. Carol Ann Gittens, a professor of liberal studies, who is currently serving as interim dean for the 2015–16 academic year.
